What’s the difference between my Crookneck Photo Apps account and my Apple ID/Google Account?

Understanding Different Accounts in Apps and Websites

Navigating the various accounts used in apps and websites can be confusing. This guide explains the differences between the accounts you might use with our apps.

Email Accounts

An email account is simply an address where you can receive emails, such as a Gmail or Yahoo Mail account.

User Accounts

Many websites and apps allow you to use your email address as a User ID to create other user accounts. For instance, with The Photographer’s Ephemeris, you can create a Crookneck Photo Apps account to access features like Location Synchronisation. Here, your email address serves as your username or User ID, but the Crookneck Photo Apps account is separate from your original email account.

App Store Accounts

To download apps from the App Store you’ll need an Apple ID. This account also uses your email address as the username or User ID.

Managing Multiple Accounts

When using our apps, you might have both a Crookneck Photo Apps account and an Apple ID. It’s a good idea to use different passwords for these accounts.

Re-downloading Apps

To re-download a previously purchased app, you’ll need your Apple ID details. To sign in to your Crookneck Photo Apps account, you’ll need your Crookneck Photo Apps account details.

Don’t cross the streams!

Recommendations

We strongly recommend avoiding multiple Apple IDs and Google Accounts. Apps are linked to the account used for purchase. Switching accounts can make it difficult to reinstall or update apps, and in-app purchases may not work.

Instead of creating a new Apple ID, consider changing the email associated with your existing account. You can find instructions here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/109353.
