How can I create a desktop shortcut or bookmark?

There are various methods to do this:

  1. Create a browser bookmark
  2. Create a desktop shortcut via your web browser
  3. Create a desktop shortcut by dragging the URL from your browser’s address bar to the desktop

Exactly how you do this depends on your browser and operating system, but below are some examples.

When you access the bookmark, the app will detect that you’re already signed in and will redirect to the map and automatically restore your last-used date and location (unless you’re using private browsing windows or similar).

Alternatively, you can select the web address in the browser’s address bar and drag it to the desktop:

Don’t save the page – it won’t re-open correctly

While browsers will allow you to save a web page as a file, we don’t recommend this. Opening the saved file will typically cause the page to crash and display an error message. Please use one of the methods outlined above.

The reason this won’t work is that TPE Web is a web app, not just a web page. When you save the page, you don’t save the entire app. When you re-open the partially saved app, it will crash because it cannot find and run the code it needs.
