Introducing our new service: Photo WX - Weather for Photographers.
Photo WX aims to provide the best map-based weather forecasts especially for the photography community. We’ve curated the best national, regional, and global public weather models and selected the variables that really matter to photographers – wind, cloud, fog, visibility, smoke, transparency, and seeing are all featured.
In addition, we have some specialty derived forecast maps designed especially for photography planning.
- Multi-level cloud: see low-, medium-, and high-level clouds in a special color scheme that allows you to differentiate cloud layers and cloud layer combinations at a glance.
- Wind gust differential: tripods can cope with steady winds up to a point, but when the gusts are unexpectedly much greater, that can mean major trouble for sharp exposures and even equipment safety.
- Dew point depression: when the dew point is close to the air temperature, lens fogging and dew formation can spoil your night photography unless you’re well prepared.
You’ll find a lot more background and discussion over on our forum.
Photo WX is available now: a PRO subscription gives you an all-access pass, with Supporters gaining access to a useful subset of forecasts. Basic forecast layers are available to all users.
